Cheers to 50 Years: How Miller Lite Changed the Beer Industry Forever

Cheers to 50 Years: How Miller Lite Changed the Beer Industry Forever
Miller Lite is celebrating an incredible milestone — 50 years of refreshing, great-tasting beer. Before the next exciting announcement from the brand, we wanted to take a moment to look back at what made Miller Lite the icon it is today.
To consumers, it may have seemed like Miller Lite burst onto the scene overnight in 1975. As Beer & Beyond explored in their recent article, that "overnight success" was actually decades — even over a century — in the making.
But don’t be fooled — brewing a light beer like Miller Lite isn’t an easy task. In fact, according to brewmaster Dr. David Ryder, “American light lagers are the hardest beers to brew. There’s no room for flaws.” Miller Lite’s exceptional taste is thanks to a careful selection of ingredients: revered two-row barley, specialty malts for that signature pale golden color, and the same lager yeast that Miller Brewing Founder Fred Miller brought from Germany back in 1854.
Through all the marketing and growth, what remains at the heart of Miller Lite’s success is a uniquely flavorful, perfectly crafted light lager that Molson Coors continues to replicate with precision brew after brew, batch after batch.
At SBG, we’re proud to bring Miller Lite to our Ohio customers and even prouder to celebrate 50 years of this legendary beer. Here's to many more years of great partnerships with Molson Coors — and to many more summers of great beer, good company, and sunny skies. Grab a can of Miller Lite and cheers to history in a glass!
